Julie Andrews will star in a live broadcast of Ernest Thompson's On Golden Pond on CBS next season, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Andrews will play Ethel Thayer, half of an elderly couple spending a summer at their country retreat. Katharine Hepburn played the role in the 1981 movie, winning an Oscar for her performance. Thompson himself will direct the show. Craig Anderson, who directed the play Off-Broadway and later on Broadway, will executive produce in association with CBS. No other cast members have been named.
Andrews has appeared on the New York stage in Camelot, My Fair Lady, Putting It Together and Victor/Victoria.
