The play, originally premiered in 1990 and revived for a Broadway premiere in 2009 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J Friedman Theatre, where it was directed by David Grindley, will again be directed by Grindley.

It is being staged as the first production in director Laurence Boswell's American Season of new commissions and U.K. premieres at the Ustinov Studio. Last year, his production of Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room won the Best New Play Award at the Theatre Awards U.K. Previous seasons have been critically acclaimed, with last year's In the Next Room winning Best New Play at the Theatre Awards U.K. 2012.

According to press materials, the play is a tangle of ravaged dreams, broken souls, twisted motives and deceit, set against the backdrop of the Catskill Mountains in a 1960s summer. In the play, Lili Adler, the beautiful, fragile daughter of a wealthy German-Jewish refugee, meets Nick Lockridge, a handsome young stranger, and finds herself falling in love. But when her overbearing mother learns of their relationship, she proceeds to poison the young man's affection and Lili's one chance to escape her mother’s control looks like being lost for ever.



The cast features Luke Allen-Gale as Nick, Emily Taaffe as Lili and Diana Quick as Eva. Also in the cast are Dona Croll as Olivia and Mark Edel-Hunt as Gil. The production is designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Jason Taylor and sound by Gregory Clarke.

Greenberg's other plays include Take Me Out and Three Days of Rain (the latter of which has been produced twice in London, at the Donmar Warehouse in 1999 and again in a separate West End staging in 2009).
