News Ring of Fire Makes West Coast Premiere June 5 The West Coast premiere of the short-lived Broadway musical Ring of Fire plays the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts June 5-21, with an official opening June 6.

Jason Edwards, who appeared in the Broadway production of Fire, directs the "new and completely revised production." Edwards is also part of a cast that features Troy Burgess, Michelle Duffy and Christa Jackson. Ring of Fire was created by Tony Award winner Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by William Meade. The La Mirada production features orchestrations by Steven Bishop and Jeff Lisenby and choreography by Jane Lanier.

"From the heart of the songs of Johnny Cash comes a unique musical show about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, home and family," according to press notes. "A cast of multi-talented performers takes you on a journey into the world Johnny Cash created in his songs."

Songs included in the production are "Country Boy," "A Thing Called Love," "Five Feet High and Rising," "Daddy Sang Bass," "Ring of Fire," "I Walk the Line," "I've Been Everywhere," "The Man in Black" and "Hurt," among others.

The design team comprises set designer John Iacovelli, lighting designer Kent Sheranian, costume designer Julie Keen, sound designer Josh Bessom and prop designer Terry Hanrahan.
