Producer Aaron Grant is presenting the Dec. 20 reading at the Jerry Orbach Theatre at the Snapple Theatre Center.
Directed by Philip Morgaman, the 3:30 PM reading will feature Shields as Eleanor Abrams, "the neurotic, only daughter of Harry, a domineering old school (and fading) Bronx big shot, with dreams of breaking free of her own fears and moving into a home of her own on Long Island, along with her teenage son Elliot and husband Sammy," according to press notes.
Shields will be joined by the previously reported Aaron Simon Gross as her son Elliot and Sam Seder as her husband Sammy.
Newly announced for the reading are Emmy Award-winning actress Robin Strasser ("One Life to Live") as Gladys, Larry Pine ("Oz," "Law & Order") as Harry and Elana Safar as Madeline.
Morgenstein's plays also include Ponzi Man and Mad Mel & the Marradians.
Executive producer is Aaron Grant; the general manager is Kelvin Productions, LLC; and casting is by Daryl Eisenberg Casting.
Jerry Orbach Theatre at Snapple Theatre Center is located at 1627 Broadway, third floor. Industry folk interested in attending the reading should e-mail [email protected].
