News Romeo and Juliet, Starring Elise Kibler of The Heidi Chronicles, Begins Off-Broadway As she prepares for her Broadway debut in The Heidi Chronicles, Elise Kibler takes on the title role of Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare in the Square, which begins previews Jan. 14 Off-Broadway.

The production is directed by the company's co-founder Dan Hasse. Performances run through Feb 8, with an official opening night of Jan. 18 at The Gym at Judson.

The cast also features Taylor Myers as Romeo, with Chris Dooly, Constantine Malahias and Jack De Sanz.

Kibler was recently cast in the upcoming Broadway production of The Heidi Chronicles alongside Elisabeth Moss, Jason Biggs, and Bryce Pinkham and also served as an understudy for The Is Our Youth at the Cort Theatre. She has starred in previous productions with Shakespeare in the Square including Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew

The design team for The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is comprised of sets and props by Phil Falino, costumes by Liz McGlone, lighting by Timothy Meola and musical direction by Chris Dubrow.

Shakespeare in the Square is now in their fifth season and are known for their outdoor performances of Shakespeare in Washington Square Park.
