Ron Raines will play Don Quixote and Kim Criswell will play Aldonza in a concert version of Man of La Mancha to be presented at the Peacock Theatre during London’s Covent Garden Festival on May 23.
The one-night only concert will be recorded live by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast in December. Jay Records will record the show (book and music) at Abbey Road Studios. John Yap will produce.
Known to television audiences for his role as "Alan Spaulding" in the CBS soap, "Guiding Light," Raines' theatre credits include playing Teddy Roosevelt’s son-in-law in Teddy And Alice and "Gaylord Ravenal" in the 1983 Broadway revival of Showboat. Raines has also sung with several major orchestras in the United States and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and Rainbow and Stars.
Jay Records recently released Raines’ solo CD called “Ron Raines: Broadway Passion,” which features fifteen popular Broadway standards from such hit musicals as Camelot, The Pajama Game, Man Of La Mancha, Annie Get Your Gun, On The Town and South Pacific.
