Choreographers Christopher Wheeldon, Javier de Frutos, and Matthew Bourne were also honored with awards for classical, modern, and musical theater choreography, respectively. The Royal Ballet won the company prize for outstanding classical repertoire, and the Rambert Dance Company won for modern repertoire.

Amy Hollingsworth and Paul Liburd, both with the Rambert Dance Company, won awards for outstanding female and male modern dancer.

The Merce Cunningham Dance Company took the prize for best foreign dance company.

A new award, the Working Title Billy Elliott prize, was presented to Taylor Davies, a 13-year-old dancer, by Stephen Daldry, the director of the film about a youthful ballet dancer.

It was also announced that Beryl Grey, dancer and former artistic director of the London Festival Ballet, will become a patron of the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards, replacing Alicia Markova, who died in December. Grey won a special National Dance Award, for services to dance, in 2002.
