Misfit Productions will unveil the West Coat premiere of The All-Male Importance of Being Earnest at the Maryland Hotel theatre space in downtown San Diego May 6 for a three-weekend run. A hit last year at the New York International Fringe Festival and then Off-Broadway, the play is based on the Oscar Wilde classic but has been adapted by Hugh Hysell, a New York director-producer who has also updated the time period to present-day Chelsea and the Hamptons. The show is also being licensed in Houston and Toronto.

Misfit Production's artistic director Fred Tracey also announced a casting call for the play. Auditions will be held March 22, 6-10 AM at the Maryland Hotel, 630 F Street, in downtown San Diego. Appointments are required; call (619) 259-5312 for information.

The company seeks non-union actors, but a modest stipend will be paid. Prepare a contemporary comic monologue lasting no longer than three minutes. There are roles for nine men ranging in age from 18 to 50. Rehearsals begin April 5.
