Classic Arts News San Francisco Ballet Names Two Principals Tiit Helimets, a principal dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Davit Karapetyan, a soloist with Zurich Ballet, will join San Francisco Ballet this fall as principal dancers, the company announced.
Helimets was born in Estonia and trained at Tallinn Ballet School. He danced with the Estonian National Ballet before joining Birmingham Royal Ballet in 1999. Karapetyan was born in Armenia and studied at the Armenian School of Ballet in Yerevan and at the Schweizerische Ballettberufsschule in Switzerland. He has danced with Zurich Ballet since 1999.

San Francisco Ballet also promoted corps de ballet members Frances Chung, Moises Martin, and Hansuke Yamamoto to soloist and apprentices Andrea McGinnis, Shannon Roberts, Lily Rogers, and Danielle Santos to the corps.

Three new apprentices have joined the company, all former students at the San Francisco Ballet School: Daniel Deivison, Jennifer Stahl, and Quinn Wharton.

The company now includes 67 dancers.
