Classic Arts Features Sarah Brightman to Appear on "The Today Show" August 11 to Promote Fall Tour British lyric soprano Sarah Brightman, having just performed the Official Olympic Theme Song for some 5 billion viewers worldwide at the Summer Games' Opening Ceremony, is gearing up for a Fall Tour of North America.


Brightman - one of the world's top-selling sopranos - was chosen as the only international performer to debut the song "You And Me" with Chinese singer Liu Huan in front of a live audience of nearly 100,000 in the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium.

It was also announced in the following press release that Brightman is scheduled for an August 11 appearance on "The Today Show" to promote her upcoming 2008 North American Fall Tour:

"Brightman's Olympic performance confirms her as one of the great theatrical sopranos of our time and fans await her much anticipated 2008 North American Fall Tour. Her first tour since 2004, Brightman will be performing 18 shows in the US, 10 shows in Canada and 4 shows in Mexico.

Over the past two and a half decades, Sarah Brightman has sold more than 26 million albums and over two million DVDs worldwide. Brightman is a pioneer in transcending and melding mainstream musical genres, from pop and Broadway showstoppers to operatic and classical arias. In 1992 she performed 'Amigos Para Siempre' at the Closing Ceremony of the Barcelona Olympics in a duet with Jose Carreras."

This year's Summer Games, which run August 8-24, are set to boast 302 events in 28 different sports. An estimated 10,500 individual athletes from 205 nations will compete for medals and Olympic glory.
