Under consideration are Braden Abraham's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, based on a new literal translation by Bonnie Swift; Justin Huertas' continued work on Lizard Boy, a story about a cellist who discovers superpowers that come from his cello bow; The Lost Bank, an adaptation of Kristen Grind's book, by Grind and Jerry Manning; The Idea of Order at Key West, a commissioned work by Lisa Peterson that is inspired by Wallace Stevens' poem; The Picture of Dorian Gray, adapted by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright; and Basketcases, a comedy about basketball moms by Cheryl L. West.

The New Play Program, which encompasses the New Play Festival, commissions and the Writer's Group, is led by artistic director Jerry Manning. The program is devoted to cultivating new voices and presenting world-premiere productions, with a focus on Seattle writers.

Recent world premieres under this program include Samuel D. Hunter's A Great Wilderness, David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright's adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles and Cheryl L. West's Pullman Porter Blues.
