D'Amboise will follow "Trading Spaces" star Paige Davis in the Kander and Ebb musical. The singer-actress-dancer will stay with the Tony-winning revival at the Ambassador Theatre through Nov. 28, according to a production spokesperson.
In addition to Chicago, d'Amboise has starred on Broadway in Contact, Cats, Song and Dance, Carrie, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Damn Yankees and Company. She may also be the most constant presence the Kander and Ebb revival has had during its seven year life. The Broadway production's Roxie was created by Ann Reinking, but d'Amboise kicked off the first national tour in early 1997. She also starred in the Los Angeles premiere of the revival. D'Amboise finally appeared in the Broadway staging on June 10, 1999. Return engagements began on March 23, 2000; Sept. 17, 2002; Oct. 7, 2003; Dec. 29, 2003; and March 1, 2004.
Chicago won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
The Ambassador Theatre is located at 215 West 49th Street.
