The limited engagement is playing at Second Stage Theatre’s Tony Kiser Theatre.
In the new work, Scott plays a celebrity actress who ventures behind the bars of a men's maximum security prison in order to help them tell their stories. The group, through sharing intimate and sometimes hilarious details of their former lives, form a close bond. As stated in press notes, the play "explores the fine line between convicted felons and the criminal inside each of us, the viability of forgiveness and the unreliability of redemption."
Additional material is by Andre Kelley, Marvin Lewis, Felix Machado, Richard Norat and Jeffrey Rivera. Scott's previous show, Everyday Rapture, also had its world premiere at Second Stage Theatre, where it opened in 2009 before transferring to Broadway the following year and was nominated for two Tony Awards.
"Working with Sherie, Dick, and Michael on Everyday Rapture was one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable experiences of my career and I am thrilled to welcome them back with this new play," said Second Stage artistic director Carole Rothman in an earlier statement. "Sherie and Dick have written a powerful and surprising ensemble work – timely, moving, and full of the honesty, insight, and humor that make their combined voice such a singular delight."
Tickets are available by visiting 2ST.com or by calling the box office at (212) 246-4422. Second Stage Theatre’s Tony Kiser Theatre is located at 305 West 43rd St.
From the mainstage at Playbill's Pride Festival in Times Square to their own onstage parade, the Tony-winning musical's all-queer stage management team came out from behind-the-scenes.
