The first step to finding the answer to that question begins March 27, when auditions for Cowell's upcoming reality singing competition series are to be held in Los Angeles. Auditions will also take place in Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York/New Jersey and Seattle. More information on those auditions will be released shortly.
Auditions are open to soloists and vocal groups of all ages. The winner of the competition will receive an unprecedented $5 million record deal with Syco, a label jointly operated by Cowell and Sony Music.
"The X Factor" is based on the successful British TV series of the same name. It will premiere in the fall on FOX.
