Oscar nominee Paul Tamasy ("The Fighter") is set to direct the film, which was penned by Dennis Lehane ("Shutter Island") and centers on a group of roommates who accidentally kill an innocent man they thought was a thrill killer. McPhee will play a twentysomething who the group tries to scapegoat.
McPhee, who was runner-up in the fifth season of the reality series "American Idol," has been seen on film and television in "The House Bunny" and "CSI: NY," among others. She released a self-titled debut album and a second album entitled "Unbroken."
Dorothy Aufiero and Todd Eckert will produce "Depravity."
