Lester Burnham (of "American Beauty") was not the only middle-aged man to fall prey to the temptations of young girls. In fact, the same thing happens to the protagonist in Steven Somkin's new comedy Autoeroticism in Detroit playing at New York City's Blue Heron Arts Center Jan. 5-28.
Set around the making of the first electric car, the story follows an up and-coming executive who falls for the "beauty" of his son's girlfriend and leaves his wife. The wife, in turn, finds solace in the arms of a spiritual cowboy. The affair starts off a number of crises that combine for a chaotic comedy.
James B. Nicola directs the Somkin satire for the Golden Squirrel Theatre company. The cast of Autoeroticism includes Ariane Brandt, Colleen Clinton, Peter Husovsky, Dennis Jordan, Jill Kotler, Stu Richel, and J.R. Robinson.
To make reservations to the show, at the Blue Heron, 123 East 24th St., call (212) 749-3002.
