News Songs for Ophelia to Feature Sher, Brown, Ambrose and Fontana Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher will host Songs for Ophelia, a one-night-only event celebrating Shakespeare's work and operas inspired by Hamlet, March 22 at Symphony Space.

The 7 PM evening, presented by the Shakespeare Society and the Metropolitan Opera, will feature selections from Shakespeare's Hamlet read by Tony Award winner Blair Brown (The Clean House, Copenhagen, Arcadia), Lauren Ambrose (Exit the King, Hamlet, Awake and Sing), Larry Bryggman (Proof), Jennifer Ikeda (Hamlet, Top Girls) and Santino Fontana (A View from the Bridge, Sunday in the Park with George, Billy Elliot). The opera component will include performances by Leah Partridge (singing from Ambroise Thomas’s opera Hamlet) and Julie Boulianne (singing Berlioz’s "La Mort d’Ophelie").
