News Sony Launches Website Devoted to Its Show Music Show tune fans have something to sing about April 1. That's when Sony Masterworks officially launches a website that exploits its catalog of more than 400 cast recordings and related albums.

MasterworksBroadway.com offers fans streaming music, archival photos, podcasts with major names in musical theatre, track listings, liner notes, a weekly blog by journalist, critic and show tune maven Peter Filichia and more.

The Masterworks Broadway catalog includes some of the best-known musicals, including South Pacific, Anything Goes, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Sweet Charity, Annie, Hello, Dolly!, Fiddler on the Roof, A Little Night Music, Hair, Sweeney Todd, A Chorus Line, Hairspray, Cabaret, Avenue Q, 1776, Camelot, Nine, Gypsy, Chicago, Oliver!, The Producers, La Cage Aux Folles, The Who's Tommy and more.

Links to buying the albums are available, but the official line is that MasterworksBroadway.com "preserves the history of music from the Great White Way, providing a comprehensive experience for the Broadway community and its fans."

The site documents the history of the cast album from Finian's Rainbow (1947) to the 2009 Grammy and Tony Award-winning revival of West Side Story. On the April 1 launch date, the site will begin the "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" sweepstakes, during which time a daily prize will be given away (recordings, books, rare collectibles and a trip to Broadway).

Every Tuesday and Friday the site will feature a prize related to the work of Jerry Herman and Stephen Sondheim, respectively, including an autographed CD collection of their works. New prizes will continue to be announced throughout the month. Visitors can enter the daily drawing by visiting MasterworksBroadway.com and signing up for free membership.
