Morris Gilbert and Federico González Compeán, who are the producers of the long-running Mexico City production of Los Monólogos de la Vagina, present the New York return that is directed by Jaime Matarredona.

The production officially opens May 18. Actresses announced to appear in the production include Miriam Colón, Kate Del Castillo, Angélica María and Angélica Vale.

Akin to the previous Off-Broadway model, Los Monólogos de la Vagina features a cast of rotating actresses. Colón is the artistic director of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre; del Castillo has appeared in "Under the Same Moon" and "The Book of Life"; Angélica María is a Grammy Award-winning musician and actress; and Vale is known for her television hit "La fea mas bella," the Mexican version of "Ugly Betty."

The cast schedule follows:

May 6-11: Miriam Colón, Kate del Castillo and Angélica Vale
May 14-June 1: Kate del Castillo, Angélica María and Angélica Vale The New York production is modeled after the Mexico City production. Portions of tickets sold benefit Ensler's global activism campaign V-Day, which seeks to end violence against women.

The original Obie Award-winning production of The Vagina Monologues played 1,381 performances at The Westside Theatre from 1999 to 2003. It has played in over 140 countries and in over 48 languages. A television version featuring Ensler was produced for HBO in 2002.

Ensler's plays include Necessary Targets, The Treatment, The Good Body and Emotional Creature. Her new play O.P.C. will premiere at the American Repertory Theater in November. She is the recipient of the 2011 Isabelle Stevenson Award.
