PlayBlog Spider-Man Begins Rehearsals, According to Reeve Carney Yes, you read that headline right – Reeve Carney, the star of the much-delayed musical Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark, has reported on his Twitter page that rehearsals for the show started July 19.

“It’s finally happening!!” tweeted Carney, who said the first day of rehearsals “was pretty awesome. I honestly can’t believe I’m getting paid to do things my mom would have killed me for when I was a kid! Ha!”

Carney, who fronts the rock band Carney and will appear in the upcoming film “The Tempest” for Spider-Man director Julie Taymor, is the only officially confirmed cast member of the musical, although Jennifer Damiano (who recently finished her Tony-nominated run in Next to Normal) and Patrick Page have been reported to play Mary Jane and the Green Goblin, respectively.

Spider Man features a score by U2’s Bono and the Edge and a book by Taymor and Glenn Berger. The New York Times had previously reported that the show was set to begin rehearsals this summer, with plans to begin previews in October and open in November at the Hilton Theatre.
