Spiegel will be joining Charlie Scatamacchia who will become co-director while continuing in his duties as director of professional licensing. Tom Briggs, currently the creative director of the Theatre Library, will become a creative consultant to the Organization.

Spiegel joins R&H from his position as an agent in the theatre department of the William Morris Agency.   Prior to joining William Morris, he was the president of Music Theatre International (MTI), a theatrical licensing agency.

"We are thrilled to welcome Steve into the Rodgers and Hammerstein family," said R&H president Ted Chapin, in a statement. "We've known Steve for many years, and I'm happy that circumstances have allowed us to ask him to join us at this time. We've become a competitive force in the stock and amateur world, and Steve's unique experiences will help as we continue to expand this area of the Organization's work."

Chapin also lauded Charlie Scatamacchia, "who has become a vital force in our licensing to the ever-changing professional theatre world."

"I'm equally happy that Tom Briggs will continue to provide creative input to various projects at R&H," said Chapin. "It was Tom who conceived the idea of a stage version of State Fair, and who wrote the script for the most recent national tour of Cinderella. Tom also saw the stage potential in the film, 'Footloose.'   I hope he will be able to focus his creative energies on similar projects for us in the future." Visit www.rnh.com.
