News Spiegelworld and Absinthe to Return to Manhattan This Summer Spiegelworld — a temporary "spiegeltent"-style performance venue, which set up shop on Manhattan's waterfront for two months last summer — will return for a three-month run beginning in July 2007.

The Australia-based producer Ross Mollison and P.S. 122 artistic director Vallejo Gantner are the producers of Spiegelworld, which, like last year, will be located at Pier 17 on the East River near the Fulton Fish Market and South Street Seaport.

The acro-burlesque show Absinthe, which sold out its run last year, will return to the venue July 3-Sept. 30. This year's version will include new acts, and is directed by Wayne Harrison, a former artistic director of Sydney Theatre Company.

The show will share the venue with the world-premiere production of La Vie, a "theatro-batic" show presented by the Montreal circus and theatre company Les 7 Doigts de la Main. The company was founded five years ago by seven performers from Cirque du Soleil and other groups.

Spiegelworld will also house other music and live entertainment acts. Before each show, audience members can drink and dine in the adjacent Green Fairy Garden.

Spiegeltents — portable performance tents with mirrors lining the interior walls — originated in Belgium and have been used in Europe and other areas throughout the world for the last century, usually as featured attractions at arts festivals.
