News Spring Awakening U.S. Tour to Conclude May 23; Non-Equity Tour to Follow The current national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will conclude following its May engagement at the Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando, FL.

Representatives confirmed that the tour, which launched at San Francisco's Curran Theatre Sept. 4, 2008, would end in Orlando May 23. The rock musical currently plays Atlanta's Fox Theatre through March 14.

Though the first national tour will close, Spring Awakening will continue to bloom in a non-equity tour produced by NETworks Presentations. Tour itinerary and a launch date for the non-equity run have not been announced.

Based on the 1891 play by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Spring Awakening features direction by Michael Mayer, choreography by Bill T. Jones, book and lyrics by Steven Sater and a score by Duncan Sheik.

The current tour features Jake Epstein as Melchior, Christy Altomare as Wendla and Taylor Trensch as Moritz.

The remainder of the Spring Awakening tour follows: Greenville, SC (March 16-21 at the Peace Center)
Dallas, TX (March 23-April 4 at the AT&T PAC)
Detroit, MI (April 19-May 9 at the Fisher Theatre)
Miami, FL (May 11-16 at the Arsht Center)
Orlando, FL (May 18-23 at the Carr PAC)
