Erik Ransom will pull a gender-bending turn as the titular high school student with telekinetic powers. He will be joined by Leah Walton as Margaret White. Michael Alltop will direct the production that runs Oct. 2-Nov. 7 at Underground Arts.
Carrie will also feature Colleen Corcoran as Miss Gardner, Jess Conda as Norma Watson, Bethany Ditnes as Chris Hargensen, Justin Jain as Billy Nolan, Mariel Rosati as Sue Snell, Bradley Wrenn as Tommy Ross and Jarrod Yuskauskas as Mr. Morton.
Karen Getz will choreograph with costumes, puppets and special effects by Alisa Sickora Kleckner; lighting by Paul Peyton Moffitti; set design and special effects by Chris Kleckner; sound design by Evan Rosen; and special effects consultation by Michael Cristaldi.
The Brat production promises "stunning special effects, puppets and costumes" and "all of the magic and horror of the original bestselling novel with surprising and hilarious new twists."
In addition to the novel and film, King's "Carrie" also inspired a cult musical, which played brief runs in London and New York. The musical was recently resurrected in a series of New York readings.
