News Stephen Sondheim Wows Cast of Prince of Broadway During Rehearsals (Photo) Prince of Broadway, the new musical celebrating the Broadway career of Tony Award-winning director-producer Harold Prince, showcases the work of some of the top writers, stars and designers of the past half century and more. A lot of those titans have been dropping into rehearsal during the past two weeks, but perhaps none more exciting than Oct. 8's visitor—composer Stephen Sondheim.

Tony Yazbeck, one of the principal players, took this photo of the company clustered around Prince and Sondheim.

Sondheim and Prince worked together on some of the top shows of the 1950s-1980s, including Company, Follies, A Little Night Music and Sweeney Todd. Several of Sondheim's songs are included in the musical, which is rehearsing in New York City prior to its premiere Oct. 23-Nov. 22 at Japan's Tokyu Theatre Orb.

Sondheim isn't the only high-profile visitor. Last week, company member Mariand Torres captured this photo of Broadway titans Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof lyricist), John Kander (Cabaret composer) and Prince embracing in the rehearsal hall.
