News Strauss and Robins to Star in Reading of Walsh-Smith's Last Journey The Last Journey is the title of a new play by Tricia Walsh-Smith, whose trilogy Addictions will play L.A.'s Kirk Douglas Theatre Jan. 29.

Journey, Walsh-Smith's newest work, will be presented Jan. 22 at the Westport Country Playhouse in CT. Part of the theatre's New Play Readings series, the 7 PM evening will feature the talents of Peter Strauss, Laila Robins, Marin Ireland, Debargo Sanyal and Danielle Skraastad. Carolyn Cantor will direct.

The performance will be followed by a talkback session with playwright Walsh-Smith.

"Annie Lawton believed that keeping the body alive after being pronounced brain-dead jeopardized the soul's immortality," according to Last Journey press notes. "[Now] her husband Julian faces a dilemma when faced with the excruciating choice between honoring his dying wife's final wish or to cave in to emotional blackmail inflicted by their daughter."

Peter Strauss won an Emmy Award for his work in "The Jericho Mile" and was also Emmy-nominated for his performances in "Rich Man, Poor Man" and "Masada." He was seen on Broadway in Einstein and the Polar Bear and Off-Broadway in Chinese Friends and Sabina.

Laila Robins' Broadway credits include Heartbreak House, Frozen, The Herbal Bed and The Real Thing. Marin Ireland has been seen Off-Broadway in The Ruby Sunrise, Manuscript, Sabina, The Harlequin Studies, Savannah Bay, Far Away and Nocturne.

Debargo Sanyal has appeared in productions at the Cherry Lane Alternative, Underwood Theater, NY Fringe Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, INTAR and LaMaMa.

Danielle Skraastad has appeared in regional productions of Othello, Jesus Hopped the A Train, Wintertime, Big Love and The Grapes of Wrath.
