News Streamlined Intiman Theatre's Summer Festival to Premiere Dan Savage's Miracle! Writer and gay rights activist Dan Savage will direct his new play Miracle!, which places Helen Keller in the 1990's Seattle drag community, as part of the Intiman Theatre's four-play summer festival.

The Intiman is set to re-open its doors this summer after shuttering in spring 2011 in the wake of major financial deficits. Last year, newly-appointed artistic director Andrew Russell and the Intiman board launched a vigorous campaign to begin paying off the theatre's deficits and raise the $1 million needed to bring the company back to life.

The four-play season, performed by a repertory company of actors, will launch with Hedda Gabler, under Russell's direction, on July 5. Also planned are Romeo and Juliet, Savage's Miracle! and John Patrick Shanley's Dirty Story. The festival will continue through Aug. 26.

Here's a look at the works:

Romeo and Juliet will be directed by Allison Narver. The cast includes Quinn Franzen, Fawn Ledesma, Michael Place, Burton Curtis, Marya Sea Kaminski, Allen Fitzpatrick, Ryan Fields, Timothy McCuen Piggee, Shellie Shulkin, Shawn Law, Hannah Victoria Franklin, Carol Roscoe, Jonathon Pyburn, Jonathan Crimeni, Tsige Tafesse and Drew Highlands.

Miracle!, directed and written by Savage, will feature Burton Curtis, Fawn Ledesma, Michael Place, Marya Sea Kaminski, Timothy McCuen Piggee, Shellie Shulkin, Hannah Victoria Franklin, Jonathon Pyburn, Jonathan Crimeni, Angela Rose Sink, Tsige Tafesse and Drew Highlands.

Here's how it's billed: "A drag extravaganza that asks what would happen if Helen Keller and the Seattle drag scene of the early 1990's smashed into each other. Raised by a drag queen amidst false lashes and sequined bras, Helen Stellar struggles to find her voice during amateur drag nights at Seattle's own Brass Connection. Only with the help of a mysterious out-of-town tutor, and an army of divas, will Helen become a show-stopping queen. Watch the versatile acting ensemble break free from Shakespeare and Ibsen in the fabulous Miracle!, a comedy that guarantees to be offensively heartwarming and celebrate the unique voice in us all."

Dirty Story, by Shanley, will be directed by Valerie Curtis-Newton. The cast will include Shawn Law, Quinn Franzen, Allen Fitzpatrick and Carol Roscoe.
