The celebrated actress will appear in a revised, truncated version of At Liberty at the Shaw Theatre July 31-Aug. 10 (with no performances Aug. 4-5).

Stritch, who was once a long-time resident of London (where she famously resided at the Savoy Hotel), did a hit sitcom on U.K. television, starring in "Two's Company" opposite Donald Sinden. She also appeared in the U.K. in episodes of Roald Dahl's "Tales of the Unexpected" and the kids series "Jackanory."

On Broadway, amongst credits that stretch back to 1946, she is still perhaps most celebrated for creating the role of Joanne, who sings "The Ladies Who Lunch," in Sondheim's iconic 1970 musical Company. She later also made Sondheim's song "Broadway Baby" her own in the 1985 Lincoln Center concert staging of Sondheim's Follies. Other more recent roles include starring in revivals of Show Boat (1994) and Albee's A Delicate Balance(1996).

Elaine Stritch At Liberty — "constructed by John Lahr," the New Yorker theatre critic, and "reconstructed by Elaine Stritch," according to the billing – was first staged at New York's Public Theater in late 2001, under the direction of its then-artistic director, George C Wolfe. It subsequently moved to Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre in February 2002, where it won the 2002 Tony Award for Best Theatrical Event.
