Neil Patrick Stewart will direct a cast that includes Susan Blackwell, Anthony Rapp, Gideon Glick, Eric Michael Gillett, Ashley Blanchet, Julia Knitel, Allison Jill Posner, Lexi Rhoades, Juliane Godfrey, Jennifer Johnson and Molly Pope.
The show, composed by Eli Bolin, with lyrics by Sam Forman and a book by Rob Ackerman, "tells the story of Coach Kim Brindell and a high-school girls’ volleyball team," according to press notes. "Brindell was once a world-class athlete before she choked and became an Olympic joke. After years of avoiding the sport that shattered her, she finds herself in charge of a team of wide-eyed, misfit high-school girls. With the encouragement of a headmaster who’s had a crush on her since college, and the resistance of a hardline, helicopter P.T.A. mom, Kim finds a way to help the girls, to accept their help in return, and to win it all."
The presentation is part of the TRU Reading Series.
The reading will feature music direction by Matt Castle. Monica Raymund is producing the reading in association with Yvette Kojic.
SoHo Playhouse is located at 15 Vandam Street.
