News Sweeney Todd Star to Be Part of July 28 “After Party” Lauren Molina, who plays Johanna — as well as the cello — in the acclaimed revival of Sweeney Todd, will head over to the Laurie Beechman Theatre following the July 28 performance of the Stephen Sondheim musical.

Molina will be the special guest at this week’s “The After Party,” the Friday-night celebration at the Beechman, billed as “an informal social gathering for the theatrically inclined.” Molina is scheduled to perform a few songs from her forthcoming cabaret act. Hosted by Brandon Cutrell and Alysha Umphress, “The After Party” features Ray Fellman at the piano and Sarajean Devenport behind the bar. Amateurs and professionals are invited to take turns at the open mic. The “Party” begins at 10:30 PM and continues to 2 AM.

Lauren Molina is currently making her Broadway debut in Sweeney Todd. She appeared in Henry, Sweet Henry at the York Theatre, Just So Stories for Theatreworks/USA and Meet Me in St. Louis for Musicals Tonight! Molina, a graduate of the University of Michigan, was also a back-up singer for Sarah Brightman during Brightman’s La Luna tour.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street. There is no cover charge or minimum for “The After Party.”
