News Taylor-Corbett Directs Asking for It for Fringe Festival Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett will direct Asking for It, part of the 11th Annual International Fringe Festival.

Joanna Rush, whose Broadway credits include Pousse Café with Charles Durning, Shirley Maclaine at the Palace and A Chorus Line, has penned and will star in the one-woman show for the Fringe Festival. The production, according to press notes, "follows the evolution of Bernadette O'Connell as she puddle-jumps through the primordial slime of American culture to personhood… Asking for It is a zestful kaleidoscope of faith and femininity, repression and redemption, humor and humility, joy and terror, spiced with song and dance… Rush peoples the stage with an eccentric cast of characters that range from uptight clerics to sexy chorines, to growing boys of all ages." Lynne Taylor-Corbett was nominated for two Tony awards and a Drama Desk award for Broadway's Swing! She also choreographed Broadway's Chess and Titanic. Her show, Hats!, played Chicago and New Orleans and will soon open in Las Vegas.

The creative team for Asking for It includes Dean Taucher (set design), Brant Thomas Murray (lighting design) and Joachim Horsley (sound design/composer).

Asking for It will play the Cherry Lane Theatre Aug. 14–24.
