Although television's Emmy Awards don't happen until Sunday, Sept. 14, in Pasadena, CA, a number of technical Emmys were distributed a week earlier, a few going to theatre-oriented programs or performers.

Here are some highlights:

"Mad About You" won best guest actress in a comedy series for Carol Burnett, who appeared in an episode in which the characters attend the Broadway show, Bring In `Da Noise, Bring In `Da Funk.

Individual achievement in costuming for a miniseries or special went to "Disney's 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame" Festival of Fun Musical Spectacular," (Disney Channel), with music by Alan Menken.

"Mrs. Santa Claus," the Jerry Herman musical starring Angela Lansbury, nabbed the individual achievement in hairstyling for a miniseries or special award. Lighting direction for drama, variety, miniseries or special went to Bette Midler for her HBO special, "Diva Las Vegas," HBO.

Taking Editing (For Single Camera) and Cinematography awards for miniseries or special was the HBO drama, Miss Evers' Boys, based on the play of the same title.

"Disney's Beauty And The Beast: A Concert On Ice" (CBS) won for technical direction (camera/video) of a miniseries or special.
