News   Terry Layman Will Star in Title Role in King Lear at Queens Theatre
The Queens-based Titan Theatre Company will conclude its second season with William Shakespeare's King Lear, beginning April 25 at Queens Theatre. Terry Layman (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan) will star in the title role.

Directed by Titan artistic director Lenny Banovez, who previously helmed Titan's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet and Henry V, the limited engagement will continue through May 11.

Joining Layman are cast members Brendan Marshall-Rashid, Laura Frye, Tristan Colton, Jonathan Matthew Finnegan, Lloyd Mulvey, Jonathan Hicks and Michael Selkirk as well as Titan alum Amanda Duffy, Brad Makarowski, Susan Maris, R. Scott Williams and Titan newcomers Greg Oliver Bodine, John Phillips, Bailey Seeker, Scott Evans, Angela Kriese, Jamie Jung and Nicholas Sotack.

"Both an intimate family drama about an aging king and his three daughters and an explosive political commentary, Lear," according to Titan, "explores the most basic themes of our existence: love and loyalty; friendship and betrayal; destiny and the overwhelming inevitability of a life nearing its end."

Other members of the creative team include Scott Frost (costume design), Weston Wetzel (lighting design), Jasmine Nicole (set design) Jonathan Hicks (fight choreography), Jesse Michael Mothershed (speech and text) and Matt Van Slyke (stage management).

King Lear is produced by Titan Theatre Company managing director Kevin Beebee. The Queens Theatre is located at 14 United Nations Avenue South in Flushing Meadows Park. For more information and tickets, visit TitanTheatreCompany.com or QueensTheatre.org.
