News "The After Party" Welcomes Wild Party's LaChiusa June 8 "The After Party," billed as "an informal social gathering for the theatrically inclined," welcomes composer Michael John LaChiusa and actor-comedian-writer Jeffrey Essmann June 8.

Five-time Tony Award nominee LaChiusa and actor Essman will be the evening's special guests. The duo will greet fans and perform a selection of musical numbers. Hosted by Brandon Cutrell and Alysha Umphress, "The After Party" at the Laurie Beechman Theatre features Ray Fellman at the piano. Cabaret favorite Lisa Asher is also part of the "Party" mix — Asher will pour drinks and perform during the evening where amateurs and professionals are invited to take turns at the open mic. The "Party" begins at 10:30 PM and continues to 2 AM.

Michael John LaChiusa penned Send (who are you? I love you), Bernarda Alba, See What I Wanna See, The Highest Yellow, The Wild Party, Marie Christine, Lovers & Friends: (Chautauqua Variations), Little Fish, Hello Again, First Lady Suite, Break/Agnes/Eulogy for Mister Hamm and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. He received Tony nominations for Best Book of a Musical for Chronicle of a Death Foretold (with Graciela Daniele and Jim Lewis), Marie Christine and The Wild Party (with George C. Wolfe) and nominations for Original Score for Marie Christine and The Wild Party.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street. There is no cover charge or minimum for "The After Party."
