News The Civilians to Honor Brooklyn Artists and Writers at In the Footprint Benefit The documentary theatre company The Civilians, who are currently presenting In the Footprint: The Battle Over Atlantic Yards, will host a benefit performance of the play Dec. 1 at the Irondale Center in Fort Greene.

The event, titled "A Celebration of Brooklyn Artists and Writers," will begin at 6:30 PM with a reception of wine and hors d'oeuvres. The In the Footprint performance will begin at 8 PM. The host committee for the event will consist of artists and writers who live in Brooklyn, including Jennifer Egan, Laurie Eustis, Amitav Ghosh, Logan Marshall-Green, Emily Mortimer, Lynn Nottage and Marisa Tomei.

Written and directed by Steven Cosson (This Beautiful City, Gone Missing) and co-written by Jocelyn Clarke, with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), In the Footprint is described by The Civilians as "a lively theatrical chronicle of the widely-publicized conflicts surrounding the largest land development project in Brooklyn's history at the Atlantic Avenue rail yards."

The Irondale Center is located at 85 South Oxford Street in Brooklyn. Tickets are $100 (including a tax-deductible donation of $75). They may be reserved by calling (718) 230-3330 or visiting thecivilians.org.
