Continuing their 29th season, The Acting Company followed-up the first production of O Pioneers! with the Trevor Nunn musical adaptation of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors. John Rando (The Dinner Party, Urinetown! The Musical) directed the production which end its scheduled run at The Women's Project Theatre in Manhattan, May 20. Performances began May 15.
The Comedy of Errors takes the Bard's classic tale and adds songs with music by Guy Woolfenden and lyrics by Trevor Nunn. The standard plot twist of mistaken identity and twins run rampant in the comedy as Antipholus and his servant Dromio set out on a quest to find their long-lost brothers. The original production of this version played at The Royal Shakespeare Company in 1976.
The cast of this Comedy features Matt Hoverman, Jonathan Uffelman, Evan Robertson, Corey Behnke, Todd Cerveris, Michael Thomas Holmes, Royden Mills, Elliot Dash, Joe Domencic, Gregory Jackson, Grace Hsu, Michele Tauber, Beth Bartley and Erika Rolferud.
The creative team includes Michael Vaughn Sims (set), Jonathan C. Bixby and Gregory A. Gale (costumes), Dennis Parichy (lighting) and David A. Arnold (sound). Joey McKneely provides choreography and Felix Ivanov handles fight direction while Eddie Strauss musically directs.
