Richard Dreyfuss and Kyra Sedgwick are both expected in the October Off-Broadway return of The Exonerated, but Los Angeles, city of stars, will revive its Actors Gang production Sept. 7 with a returning cast of unknowns. The Actors' Gang, where Tim Robbins is artistic director, hosted the West Coast premiere of the Jessica Blank-Erik Jensen play April 13-June 2.
Academy Award nominee Bob Balaban (among the cast and creative team of "Gosford Park") is supervising director of the Actors' Gang production. The returning cast features Ben Cain, Blaire Chandler, Kelly Cole, Victoria Cunningham, Ken Elliot, Jon Kellam, Richard Lawson, Ken Palmer, Brian Powell, Adele Robbins, Yolanda Snowball and Terrell Tilford.
The Exonerated features a half-dozen former death row inmates who have shared a variety of experiences and feelings with playwrights Blank and Jensen. Most describe losing their faith in the justice system, while discovering that it was the resources available to a defense team that made the difference between achieving justice or experiencing a miscarriage of it.
There is no closing date for this run of The Exonerated. Tickets are $25. The Actors' Gang is located at 6209 Santa Monica Boulevard. For reservations, call (323) 465-0566. The Actors' Gang is on the web at http://www.theactorsgang.com.
