News The History Boys to Tour U.K. The Royal National Theatre’s The History Boys will commence an 11-week U.K. tour, starting Aug. 31.

Nicholas Hytner’s award-winning production, redirected for the tour by Simon Cox, takes to the road after two sell-out seasons at the National; an international tour to Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia; and a season on Broadway.

The Broadway production, which continues to play the Broadhurst Theatre, won six Tonys, including Best Play for author Alan Bennett and Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play for Richard Griffiths, who created the role of maverick teacher Hector.

In Britain The History Boys won the Olivier, Evening Standard and Critics Circle awards for Best New Play.

The touring version will see Anton Rodgers take on the role of Hector. Rodgers' theatre work includes The Front Page and St. Joan for the National.
