Brooklyn's Audelco and Obie Award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre will commemorate Black History Month with the world premiere of Jackie Alexander's play The Legend of Buster Neal, a tale of generation-spanning family conflicts.

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 18-March 27 with an official opening night March 3.

Alexander will direct a cast including Charles Anthony Burks, Sidiki Fofana, Stephen Hill, Dennis Johnson, Patrick Mitchell and Nathan Purdee.

"The play opens with a flashback to the civil rights era, when Buster Neal is faced with a life-or-death confrontation that becomes a local legend," according to press notes. "Flashing forward to the present day, his 17-year-old great-great grandson Marcus is dealing with modern urban issues – drugs, peer pressure, a broken family – while his father and grandfather disagree on the best way to raise him. When a bad decision creates consequences that Marcus can’t handle, Buster Neal arrives as a mysterious visitor to give his descendants a second chance."

The creative team includes scenic designer Felix E. Cochren, costume designer Helen Simmons-Collen and lighting designer Avan.

The Billie Holiday Theatre is located in Restoration Plaza at 1368 Fulton Street in Brooklyn. For tickets call (212) 209-3370 or visit
