Suzan-Lori Parks, one of the US's foremost avant-garde playwrights, wrote the screenplay for Girl 6, Spike Lee's latest film, which opens March 22.Parks, author of The America Play, The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire Universe, Imperceptible Mutabilities in the Third Kingdom and the forthcoming Venus, wrote the screenplay about a young woman who turns to being a phone-sex operator after she fails in her attempt to break into theatre and film work in New York.

Girl 6is produced and directed by Spike Lee, with a score by Prince, who appears from ads for the film to be using his old name again.

The film stars Theresa Randle, with appearances by Lee, Isaiah Washington, Naomi Campbell, Madonna and other notables.
