News THE SCREENING ROOM: David Henry Hwang and Cast Hit the Red Carpet at Chinglish Opening Night (Video) David Henry Hwang's Chinglish, which had its world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre this summer, officially opened at Broadway's Longacre Theatre Oct. 27, following previews that began Oct. 11.

Directed by Obie Award winner Leigh Silverman, the cast of Chinglish includes original cast members Jennifer Lim, Stephen Pucci, Larry Lei Zhang, Christine Lin, Angela Lin and Johnny Wu. Gary Wilmes is new to the production, playing Midwestern American businessman Dan.

Chinglish, according to the producers, "is about an American businessman arrives in a bustling Chinese province looking to score a lucrative contact for his family's sign-making firm. He soon finds that the complexities of such a venture far outstrip the expected differences in language, customs and manners — and calls into questions even the most basic assumptions of human conduct."

At the production's opening, Hwang, along with the cast and creative team of Chinglish, hit the red carpet to chat about the new comedy that fuses both Mandarin and English.
