News "The Sopranos" Mob Man Stars in Upcoming Dread Awakening in New York City "The Sopranos" actor Robert Funaro will appear in the upcoming horror-infused world premiere plays — by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Clay McLeod Chapman, Eric Sanders and Justin Swain — collectively titled Dread Awakening.

Arin Arbus, Amanda Charlton, Jessica Davis-Irons and Pat Diamond will stage the 90 minute, intermissionless evening which begins April 6th at the 45th Street Theatre for a limited run through April 23. "Bound by their shared love of the macabre and the supernatural," a release explains, the burgeoning scribes pen tales of "a boyfriend who refuses to reveal his true face, a dead best friend who won't stay dead, a professional who grows unnaturally obsessed with his client and a young couple experiencing horrific events in a car on a deserted highway."

The four works are:

  • Bloody Mary by Aguirre-Sacasa (Based on a Totally True Story, The Mystery Plays) - directed by Diamond
  • pearls by Chapman (The Pumpkin Pie Show) - dir. Arbus
  • Sleep Mask by Sanders (It’s a Dry Heat) - dir. Charlton
  • Treesfall by Swain (Bump) - dir. Davis-Irons Funaro is joined in the cast by Jedadiah Schultz (The Laramie Project), Danny Deferrari (Happy Birthday Wanda June, Jenny Gammello (Spring Awakening), Abe Goldfarb (The Pumpkin Pie Show), Christianna Nelson (Harvest), Joe Plummer (Romeo and Juliet) and Margie Stokley (Serious Money).

    The design team of Dread Awakening includes Wilson Chin (set), by Marcus Doshi (lighting) and Candice Thompson (costumes). The show also feature original video/music by Zachary Finkelstein and original artwork by Donny Phan. The presentation is produced by Michelle Bossy, Alana Karpoff and Eric Sanders of The Thursday Problem through the sponsorship of The Field.
