The Jazz Tap Ensemble, East L.A. Classic Theatre and Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus are among the theatre groups scheduled to appear at the five-month-long 1999 "Summer Nights at the Ford" season, which runs mid-June through Labor Day.

Sponsored by the L.A. County Arts Commission, the season includes 38 attractions presented by 27 L.A. County-based groups.

Non-theatrical highlights include a rare screening of the Mel Stuart-David L. Wolper film "WattStax" (Aug. 4), sponsored by the International Documentary Association; and a rare appearance by the Brazilian musical legend Caetano Veloso for two nights of concerts (July 3-4).

The Los Angeles premiere of Groove, choreographed by Gregory Hines, will be presented June 27 by Jazz Tap Ensemble.

East LA Classic Theatre will perform Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing on July 31, Aug. 7, 14 & 15.Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus will perform From Broadway to the Silver Screen Aug. 29.
