Tony Award winner Charnin (Annie, Two By Two) will direct the 29-hour Equity reading on May 3 and 6. Actress Jana Robbins and Better World Productions produce the reading.

The musical, which centers on Robin Hood and his band of men in the years following their adventures, was first presented in 2004 as part of the Village Originals series at the Village Theatre outside Seattle. Initially titled Robin Hood: The Legend Continues, the New York reading reflects new billing for the production: Robin Hood: The Final Adventure.

It has music by Sipos, a book by Tony Award winner Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers) and lyrics by Charnin. The reading will have musical direction by Kevin Stites (Titanic).

Here's how it's billed: "It's been 18 years since leaving Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood has finally returned home. His merry men are now similarly middle-aged, but King John and Sheriff Nottingham are as great a threat as ever. Upon reuniting with Marian, he soon learns that he is a father – but rather than the preferred boy, his offspring is a girl named Elizabeth. As Robin faces that age has taken its toll on him, the new generation of merry men led by Elizabeth, pick up where he left off."
