During his 7 PM performance Scanlan, according to press notes, will "recount his experiences on the other side of the footlights as an original cast member in the 1991 cult hit musical, Pageant. Set against the backdrop of the darkest days of the AIDS epidemic, this is a frank, funny and affectionate monologue about playing a woman . . . and becoming a man." Dick Scanlan wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the book for the Tony-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. With Jeanine Tesori, he also wrote the song "The Girl in 14G" as well as the theme song for Kristin Chenoweth's NBC sitcom "Kristin." His novel is titled "Does Freddy Dance," and he appeared Off-Broadway as Miss Great Plains in the hit musical Pageant.
