OK, so it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but it's time to start thinking about holiday gift-giving, and what better way to bestow presents on friends and family members than with items selected from this years Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Holiday Catalogue?

Autographed posters, books, CDs and special greeting cards are all part of the mix, with proceeds going towards the country's most notable AIDS service organization.

Among the signed CDs: Liza Minnelli, Mandy Patinkin, Betty Buckley, the late Nancy LaMott, Bernadette Peters, Barbara Cook, Karen Mason and Amanda McBroom. Cookbooks will feature special recipes created by the casts of Victor/Victoria, Show Boat, and The Phantom of the Opera. Jewelry and ribbons are also available, as are t-shirts specially designed by the firm, "Nightsweats & T-Cells," whose members are living with HIV and AIDS.

Especially popular is the greeting card service. Back in 1988, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS tried out a fund raising idea -- a holiday card service -- to take the hassle out of sending Christmas and Chanukah cards.

Now the service, which raised more than $90,000 for the cause last year ($850,000 total since inception), returns for its ninth season. Here's how it works, for a minimum $10 donation per card: Participants choose a design from an attractive series of originally designed cards. Then they give their mailing list to BC/EFA. The organization then hand-signs in calligraphy, personalizes and mails each card. Not only that; next year the organization will mail the list back to the customer for updates and changes.

This year's cards designs include four new looks and four old favorites. "Stained Glass" features BC/EFA's logo and the message, "Rejoice." Elsewhere on the card it says "This card represents a generous donation to BC/EFA." The cards are $35 for 12 ($5 discount on orders placed before Nov. 20.

"Gingerbread Man," featuring the gingerbread fellow wearing a red ribbon and standing against a wreath (no message) come 8 for $15 ($5 discount before Nov. 20).

Returning favorites include the "Broadway Kids" cards and "Times Square" cards from last year, plus the "Peace" cards and "Star Reflection" cards from previous years. Those are priced at $20 for 12 (before Nov. 20) and $25 thereafter.
