London's Hampstead Theatre is to stage the U.K. premiere of Tony Kushner's The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, beginning performances October 15 prior to an official opening October 24, for a run through November 26.

Directed by former RSC artistic director Michael Boyd, it is presented in a revisited draft of the play that resulted from a development workshop at Hampstead, led by Kushner and Boyd, last fall.

It is described in press materials as the story of a family grappling to find meaning in a landscape they no longer recognize and an epic exploration of humanity’s compulsive search for Utopias, both personal and political.

Hampstead Theatre will also present the world premiere of Beth Steel's Labyrinth, beginning performances September 1 prior to an official opening September 7, for a run through October 8. Anna Ledwich directs the play, commissioned by Hampstead Theatre, that's described as a new thriller exploring the fallout from the "tequila crisis" — one of the most catastrophic economic crises of modern history, which brought Latin America to its knees for decades.

Steel was previously represented at Hampstead Theatre by Wonderland in 2014, for which she won the Charles Wintour Award for Most Promising New Playwright at the Evening Standard Awards.

Also scheduled for production is a revival of Michael Frayn's Wild Honey, based on an unnamed play by Chekhov that was first staged at the National. It will begin performances December 2 prior to an official opening December 8 for a run through January 8, 2017. It will be directed by Howard Davies.

Casting for all three productions is still to be announced.
