Notes, a new play written and directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Tony Tanner, will open March 27 (after one preview) at the James Whitmore Theatre in the NoHo arts district.
Tanner's nominations came from his work as director-choreographer of the original Broadway production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. His other New York directorial credits include Something Afoot, Gorey's Stories, Prince of Central Park and A Taste of Honey.
Notes is an epistolary piece for the 90s. It deals with an e-mail correspondence between two young people whose work separates them for considerable periods of time but who still manage to conduct a love affair.
The roles of Christopher and Susan will be played by Lawrence H. Toffler and Kate Connor.
Notes is staged with movement and some sound and lighting effects, but the two lovers never look at each other or touch. Through April 25 at the James Whitmore Theatre, 11006 Magnolia Blvd. Call (818) 761- 0704 for information.
