Cook's new show, which is entitled Here's to Life, features selections from the worlds of theatre, swing, pop and jazz. Songs include "What A Wonderful World," "Written in the Stars" and "I Want to Be Happy" as well as tunes from her newest CD, "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder." The show – featuring musical director Lee Musiker heading an all-star quintet – runs at the Regency Hotel through May 2.
Show times are Tuesday-Thursday at 8:30 PM and Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 PM. There is a $75 cover charge ($95 for premium seats) and a $40 food-drink minimum.
Barbara Cook has starred on Broadway in Flahooley, Candide, The Gay Life, The Music Man and She Loves Me. She received a Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in The Music Man, and her one-woman show, Mostly Sondheim, was nominated for a Tony in the Best Special Theatrical Event category. Cook was most recently on the New York stage in Barbara Cook's Broadway. Both Mostly Sondheim and Barbara Cook's Broadway were recorded for DRG. Cook made her solo debut at the Metropolitan Opera, which was also released on DRG Records. Her newest CD, also on DRG, is titled "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder."
