News Tony Winner Holliday Will Join Gay Men's Chorus for Broadway! Concerts Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday, who created the role of Effie in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, will join the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles for two concerts in June.

The Tony-winning singer-actress will perform with the chorus at the Alex Theatre in an evening simply titled BROADWAY! The concerts are scheduled for June 27 at 3 and 8 PM and June 28 at 3 PM. Holliday will only be part of the June 27 at 8 PM and June 28 at 3 PM performances. The concert will feature both classic and recent musical theatre songs. Expect tunes from The Lion King, Young Frankenstein, Spring Awakening, Aida, The King and I, Zorba, Milk and Honey, South Pacific, Company, Passion, Follies, Steel Pier and Dreamgirls.

A native of Houston, Jennifer Holliday made her professional New York theatre debut in 1980 in the revival of Your Arms Too Short to Box With God. That role led to her Tony-winning performance in Dreamgirls, and her rendition of that show's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" earned the singer-actress her first Grammy Award. She has also appeared on Broadway in the revivals of Grease! and Chicago, and her television credits include "Ellen," "Touched By an Angel" and a recurring role on "Ally McBeal." Holliday earned another Grammy Award for her recording of Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday."
